Day 12: Bed on Time

Ah bedtime! You know summer is coming to an end when parents start shuffling their kids into the house earlier in the evening to get them ready for bed. If your kids are like mine, they have been enjoying the longer days at night and the chance to sleep in in the morning. It takes a while to get them back on track again. We start putting the kids to bed about a 1/2 hour sooner a couple weeks before school starts. Then we go to their proper bedtimes about a week before school starts. They are still allowed to read in bed for a while before it is lights out.

I am pretty picky about the kids' bedtime. They do so much better the next day when they have had a good night's sleep. As well, I enjoy the time that I get to spend with my husband alone in the evenings.

Talk it over with your spouse and your kids. Decide on a good bedtime for them and your family. Then start getting your kids used to the new time.
